Ross is an all-round versatile, charismatic actor and performer. His credits are testimony to his diverse talents. Just as comfortable on stage – with his great resonating voice, as he is in front of the camera. His credits cover all areas; from comedy to Shakespeare, restoration to musical theatre and modern gritty drama to the classics. Two years out of the business recently due to an accident has only spurred him on to achieve greater things. Ross has also now added writing to his skills. The very first draft of his very first script earned him a place as a finalist in the Red Planet Prize with Red Planet Pictures & Kudos Film & TV in 2010. He has since finished writing an eight part crime drama series which is both edgy and original and is currently writing a film screenplay as well as the second ‘potential’ series of the crime drama.

Lin’s much talked about performance in ‘LIN’ has won the award for best Drama at the AESTHETICA Film Festival in York.

Aesthetica Film Festival review on award winning film ‘LIN’

Ethereal menace hangs over this tale of a seemingly vulnerable woman wandering across Eastern Europe. Thompson uses, expertly, bleak industrial wastelands, bizarre architecture and foreboding landscapes to keep you in a constant state of unease. Lin Clifton’s excellent performance complements this atmosphere: as the woman escaping her past she is inscrutable and disturbing. When the film reaches its incendiary climax a profound dark side to her character is revealed, which leaves you afraid to ask what, exactly, she is. Who is Lin? Just a lost soul? A modern-day witch? Itinerant killer? It’ll keep you wondering long after the credits roll. This left a deep, disconcerting impression.

Rating: 10/10

One for the must see list…

Darren Cockrill trained at East 15 Drama school where he was talent spotted and offered a coveted role in Jonathan Kent’s production of ‘Emperor and Galilean’ at the National Theatre (Olivia) before he graduated…

A review from Paul Vale of ‘The Stage’ Newspaper…

‘Darren Cockrill not only brings a great deal physically to the piece but also negotiates the tenderness and fears of his character perfectly.’

Darren is also a founding member of ‘Two Bins’ Theatre and film group winning awards at the Brighton Fringe for 2 consecutive years.

His musical background led him to form a Comedy Bluegrass Band ‘Leonard and Bubba’s Delicious Goo Goo Cluster’, performing at Glastonbury, Bestival, Bournemouth Opera House and The Lord Mayor’s show in London.

Keen fan Hollywood actor Patrick Bergin has been known to get up and jam along with the band… this actor is definitely one to watch.

…Financial Crisis Blamed For A Range Of Productions Closing In The West End.

Various news sources are reporting today that a recent bout of closures can be directly attributed to the financial crisis currently gripping the world.

It had previously been reported that the West End had so far been spared from the credit crunch, despite its New York counterpart Broadway suffering in the current crisis. It has been reported that state subsidies in London had so far meant that theatreland had come out of it largely unscathed.

But this seems to have changed. Productions across the capital have been posting early closure notices including Philip Seymour Hoffman’s Riflemind, starring John Hannah, Eurobeat – Almost Eurovision with Les Dennis, Girl With A Pearl Earring, the Take That musical Never Forget and the puppet musical Avenue Q.

Riflemind will be closing ten weeks early despite its direction from Hollywood star Philip Seymour Hoffman and backing from Cate Blanchett.

According to Terri Paddock, the editor in chief of Whatsonstage.com, theatregoers are less willing to see a production they know nothing about and will not be taking risks, “It is a difficult time… Regular theatregoers will be smarter about how they spend their money, while producers will be thinking of taking on the right projects”. As a result ‘serious’ shows might be losing out as punters opt instead for shows that offer escapism.

Girl With A Pearl Earring was the second production to close early at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, following Marguerite, the musical starring Ruthie Henshall. Producers of the show blamed the economic crisis for the show closing two months early.
